Give Your Memorabilia A Home On Board Lucid

Recreating Life Aboard Lucid

Since 2011, the Stockton Maritime Museum has been restoring our largest artifact to date, the USS Lucid (MSO-458). All of Lucid’s original hardware were removed by previous owners to be scrapped, so we have relied on donations to bring her back to life.

We love offering former ‘sweep sailors the opportunity to donate any MSO-related items they may have acquired during their naval service or in subsequent years. We also appreciate any leads on where to find more items. We are also in search of items that demonstrate Stockton’s shipbuilding past.

We are happy to provide proof of donation for your tax and other purposes.

We are currently seeking donations of the following items:

  • Blue or white jumpers, and other Navy uniforms, with and without patches, name stamps, etc.
  • Ratings patches (we are missing Boatswain’s mate [BM], Electronics Technician [ET], Electrician [EM], Gunner’s mate [GM], Fireman [FM], Commissaryman [CM], and Mineman [MN]
  • Plaques from mine warfare ship, division, and squadron as well as from the umbrella of sweep types: inter alia, AM, DMS, YMS, MSC, MSIs, MSBs, etc. from the MSO Era, WWII, Vietnam War, and Korean War
  • Photos (of your time at sea, the Stockton waterfront, ship production in Stockton, etc.)
  • Books about minesweepers, Stockton’s shipbuilding companies, US Navy history, books from before 1971, etc.
  • Minesweeper manuals and log books
  • Green cloth 3-ring binders
  • Any items from minesweepers or other Navy vessels (memorabilia)
  • Ship plans
  • Any non-magnetic (bronze-phosphor) tools
  • Any electrical and plumbing fixtures
  • Minesweeping gear
  • Demilled period weapons
  • A spare Teletype Model 80 teleprinter
  • 1965 USS Pictor AF-54 Cruise Book (and cruise books from any year)
  • All Hands Magazines from any year
